Overcoming Doubts:

The Journey to Writing My Book on Authenticity

When I was first approached to write a book about my 8-week course on how to be authentic, I brushed off the idea. Writing a book? That was for people with perfect grammar, boundless patience, and a knack for creating life-changing narratives. It didn’t feel like something I could—or even wanted—to do.

But as one month passed, and then another, the idea began to linger. It wasn’t just a fleeting thought anymore; it was something that kept nudging me, whispering, “What if?” The realization hit me: a book could take the lessons of my course beyond the borders of Idaho, reaching people I’d never meet in person. Still, the road to starting was far from smooth, and I wrestled with a few major hurdles that made the whole idea feel impossible.

The Struggles That Held Me Back

  1. Spelling and Grammar
I’ve never been a great speller. Numbers? Sure, I can crunch them all day long. But words? I didn’t even learn how to spell Tuesday until my junior year in High School! The thought of putting my ideas into written form, knowing they’d be scrutinized, was intimidating.
  2. Creating Something Meaningful
I’ve read countless self-help books over the years, and while some left a lasting impact, many seemed to fade as quickly as they inspired. The last thing I wanted was to create a book that would spark motivation for a week only to leave readers slipping back into old habits. I wanted to write something real, something that could truly transform lives.
  3. The Time Commitment
Writing a book isn’t just a project—it’s a marathon. The sheer amount of time and energy it would take felt overwhelming. Between my family, my business, and my creative projects, I wasn’t sure I could carve out the space to make it happen.

These doubts clung to me, making the idea of starting feel like climbing a mountain without any gear. But as I reflected on the potential impact of my message, I realized that my struggles weren’t roadblocks—they were stepping stones.

To Be Continued…

This is just the beginning of the story. In the next section, I’ll share how I began to tackle these challenges, one by one, and discovered that the process of writing a book wasn’t just about sharing my message—it was about growing into the most authentic version of myself.
