A Step Toward Saving Lives
Yesterday was a day I’ll never forget. Standing alongside the Governor of Idaho, I had the honor of helping declare June 6th as Naloxone Awareness Day—a milestone that fills me with both gratitude and hope.
For those who may not know, Naloxone is a life-saving medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Its importance cannot be overstated. Every life saved is a family kept whole, a future restored, and a reminder that hope is never out of reach. I am deeply thankful for the opportunity to help bring this vital conversation to the forefront in our state.
A Personal Story of Hope
This cause is incredibly close to my heart. My family knows firsthand the power of Naloxone—this medication gave one of my loved ones a second chance at life. In a moment of crisis, Naloxone was there to keep their story from ending too soon. Because of this life-saving drug, our family got to experience healing, reconnection, and the overwhelming realization of how deeply we love one another. I am forever in debt to this medication and to those who make its availability and education possible.
A Community United for Change
This declaration didn’t happen in a vacuum. It was the result of collaboration, compassion, and the tireless efforts of advocates who believe that every person deserves a second chance. I want to extend a special thank you to Victoria’s Voice Foundation for their dedication to raising awareness and providing education about Naloxone. Their work empowers communities, equips families, and saves lives every single day.
A Personal Honor, A Shared Mission
Seeing the declaration go out yesterday was a proud moment—not just for me, but for everyone who has worked so hard to make this a reality. It’s a reminder that when we come together, we can create real, lasting change.
I am also incredibly grateful that our 2025 queens will be carrying this torch forward, promoting Naloxone Awareness Day and helping spread this crucial message throughout our communities. Their passion and visibility will inspire so many others to get involved, learn more, and maybe even save a life.

Why Naloxone Matters
Opioid overdoses touch every corner of our society, impacting families, friends, and neighbors. Naloxone gives us the power to intervene—to offer hope in the most desperate moments. By spreading awareness and ensuring more people know how to use and access Naloxone, we take a stand for compassion, action, and the value of every single life.
Moving Forward Together
My hope is that Naloxone Awareness Day becomes more than just a date on the calendar. I hope it sparks conversations, encourages education, and inspires all of us to be prepared to help when it matters most. If even one life is saved because someone learned about Naloxone today, every effort has been worth it.
Thank you to everyone who made this possible—from the Governor’s office to Victoria’s Voice Foundation, to our dedicated 2025 queens, and to each person reading this who cares about making a difference. Together, we can turn awareness into action and continue to bring hope where it’s needed most.
