Supporting Middleton High School Senior Interviews for the Fourth Year

For the fourth consecutive year, I had the privilege of participating in the Senior Interviews at Middleton High School—a project designed to help graduating seniors explore career paths, understand the education and experience required, and practice real-world application and interview skills.
Each student begins by identifying a career of interest, researching the necessary qualifications, and then preparing a job application complete with references. The process culminates in an authentic interview with professionals from across the valley, offering students a taste of what it’s like to pursue their dreams.
This year, I had the joy of interviewing a diverse group: a hopeful HR intern, a future movie Director, and an apprentice plumber. My own background—being the HR Manager at Roaring Springs Waterpark, working behind the scenes on Hallmark movies, serving as a Production Assistant and EMT on The Bachelorette, and being married to Travis, a Journeyman Electrician—gave me unique perspectives to connect with each student. I even surprised the aspiring plumber with a few trade-specific questions, thanks to my experience around the trades!
What stood out most was the students’ professionalism, the thoughtful questions they asked, and the dedication they showed throughout the process. It’s truly inspiring to see the next generation stepping up with such confidence and curiosity.
One of my favorite traditions is receiving thank you cards from the students after the interviews. Their gratitude and reflections on what they learned remind me how meaningful this experience is for everyone involved.
Participating in these interviews is more than just giving back; it’s a powerful reminder that our future is in good hands. I feel loved and thankful for the opportunity to support these students as they take bold steps toward their futures.
If you ever get the chance to be part of something like this, I can’t recommend it enough—helping the next generation find their path is the ultimate inspiration.
